Changes to CMMI in Version 1.2
 ±Û¾´ÀÌ : °ü¸®ÀÚ
Á¶È¸ : 8,550
Version 1.2 of the CMMI Product Suite is planned for release in August of 2006 and, although the changes are not extensive, this new release will include the following:

Model Improvements
• incorporating a model architecture that accommodates the expansion of best practices into new areas (e.g., services, acquisition)
• releasing CMMI in a single-book format that reflects both the staged and continuous representations
• eliminating the concepts of advanced practices and common features
• simplifying the integrated product and process development (IPPD) material
• incorporating the supplier sourcing (SS) extension into the base model
• adding hardware-related examples
SCAMPI Appraisal Method Improvements
• removing the requirement for instruments (e.g., surveys)
• adding guidance on how to characterize alternative practices
• setting limits for the maximum length of appraisals
• defining requirements for sampling and incremental appraisals
• expanding the scope of readiness reviews to include the readiness of the organization, the team, and logistics
• requiring the appraisal sponsor's signature on the Appraisal Disclosure Statement
• limiting the validity of appraisal results to a maximum of three years
Training Improvements
• updating course materials to reflect changes in CMMI models and appraisal method
• improving the clarity and consistency of the course materials

Sunset of CMMI Version 1.1
The sunsetting period for CMMI Version 1.1 will commence when V1.2 is released. To allow the user community a reasonable amount of time to upgrade to Version 1.2, a measured approach will be used for retiring training and appraisal materials, with the sunset period ending on December 31, 2007.

Training Courses

Introduction to CMMI, Staged and Continuous, V1.1 training will sunset on December 31, 2006. Beginning in 2007, the newly released Version 1.2 course materials will be the only Introduction to CMMI course recognized by the SEI.
• For V1.2, the only available Introduction to CMMI courses will be the single integrated course covering both the staged and continuous representations.
• The intent is that upgrade training for the V1.2 Introduction to CMMI course will not require significant expense or effort and will be made widely available. This training will be available to Introduction to CMMI Instructors, SCAMPI Lead AppraisersSM and previous attendees of the Introduction to CMMI courses. The format and schedule of upgrade offerings will be announced at a later date.

Appraisals

SCAMPI appraisals conducted after December 31, 2007 will be accepted only if they are conducted with a Version 1.2 CMMI model and the Version 1.2 SCAMPI method.
• After the sunset period ends on December 31, 2007, a SCAMPI appraisal using a Version 1.1 CMMI model or Version 1.1 SCAMPI method will not be accepted as a valid organizational appraisal or for credit in maintaining Lead Appraiser credentials.
• During the sunset period, appraisals using a mix of the Version 1.1 and 1.2 CMMI models and SCAMPI appraisal method will be accepted as valid. Any appraisal using either the V1.1 model or the V1.1 method is considered a V1.1 appraisal.
• Upgrade training for SCAMPI V1.2 will be available to SCAMPI Lead Appraisers. The format and schedule of upgrade offerings will be announced at a later date.
A three-year maximum period of validity for SCAMPI Class A appraisals will be instituted with the release of CMMI Version 1.2. Though an appraisal can become no longer valid for other reasons, three years after the appraisal end date the appraisal results will expire and become invalid based on age.
• The SEI will notify an organization of the age of their appraisal at the two year point. This practice will alert organizations in time for them to plan a new appraisal before the older appraisal results expire.
• Version 1.1 SCAMPI Class A appraisals shown on the Published Appraisal Results site at http://seir.sei.cmu.edu/pars/ will be removed from the Web site three years after their appraisal end date or one year after the release of Version 1.2, whichever is later.
